Look Birdy was a passion project that brought together a few things I was attempting to do. Firstly, I wanted to make a product from the ground-up. When your experience grows as a creative person, you get less hands on, and I started to miss that.
Secondly, I wanted to do an idea which was a platform hack. Look Birdy messes with the intended functionality of a phones’ flash, and uses it in an unconventional, yet practical way. Some of my favourite ideas have this kind of resourcefulness at their core.
Thirdly, I wanted to test some of my theories around how to successfully promote products online. Before I become an agency copywriter, I ran my own online business in the late nineties. This experience forced me to learn grass-roots marketing, the basic tenants of copywriting, and how to build a community.
